A fun-size update on the Santa Barbara build!

SB, Goleta, Carpinteria, Montecito - we can't wait to meet you!

We know you’ve been hungry for an update, and we’ve cooked up a snack for you!

The last time we checked in, we shared that the planning department had decided that our particular use of the space would trigger a major conditional use permit that will take at the very least, 6 months to go through, but could take a lot longer (and we expect it to).

However, we did make some progress! If you’ve been to Magnolia Center to check out the facility, you’ll see that we are occupying two spaces: one larger facility for the main climbing experience and a smaller facility designated as a training area. We are able to confirm that we’ll likely be able to open our smaller training facility sooner rather than later!

What we’ve temporarily dubbed as “The Pad Junior” will offer 1,000 square feet of training walls at 25 degrees and 40 degrees, a Woods board, a Moon board, a campus board, showers, a free weight and cardio area, and as always, 24/7 access for members of #ThePadFam.

While we don’t have an updated grand opening date quite yet, bringing on The Pad Junior first will enable us to open our doors much more quickly. We can’t wait to open and start serving the Santa Barbara community!

And we’re not stuck on “The Pad Junior.” We would love #ThePadFam to help us name the facilities. North and South? Biggie and Smalls? Basecamp and Summit? We’re sure the community will know exactly what to call them. Make sure you’re following us on Instagram, where we will run a poll and can contribute and vote on your choice for names.
