Community Support Crew

We’re a rock climbing gym looking for community support crew, which will have an emphasis on community building and working directly with nonprofits, staff member events and small groups events.

Experience in climbing isn’t a requirement but it is highly recommended. Upon hire, crew will be trained on a variety of tools and machines to get the job done as easily and efficiently as possible.

Here’s a typical workload:
  • Facilitate scheduled group climbing sessions including birthday parties and nonprofit group climbs
  • Set up and break down tables and chairs for groups
  • Encourage hesitant climbers and make them feel welcome in the space
  • Provide belay support
  • Step into other departments as determined by gym leadership
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining dedicated area safety and enforce safety regulations
  • Interacting with members and guests to create a friendly and welcoming environment in the facility
  • Assisting groups during scheduled visits in the bouldering and ropes areas
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to belay guests or members during shifts when not working with groups
  • Representing the community and making a genuine effort create connections that support members, guests, and peers
  • Communicating with supervisors and peers about gym and your own needs, improvements, and goals
  • Meeting the standards set by the company’s core competencies and actively working towards exceeding the standards
  • Reporting to Community Coordinator and/or Community Director
Requirements:
  • Genuine interest in other people’s experiences
  • Communicate clearly with peers and the community
  • Experience with speaking to or working in a dynamic environment
  • Confidence in standing up to strangers and those you care about when it comes to following rules and upholding the values of the company
  • Able to tie knots and move across uneven surfaces and stairways
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to self manage time and prioritize tasks based on importance
  • Work as a member of a team, you will interact with other crew members as well as other department teams
  • Lover of learning and a deep interest in improving things for those around them
  • Friendly, enthusiastic attitude, can exhibit warmth and empathy
  • Tech savvy enough to use and apply a wide variety of applications, including Word, Google Drive, Gmail, and Asana
  • Actively seek new opportunities to improve self and the community at large
  • Uphold company values and use the mission statement to guide decisions

Community Support Crew Terms:
  • Position is part time seasonal, contract is valid for 3 months
  • Minimum wage – $14
  • Paid bi-monthly on the 15th and last day of the month
